Routt County Mugshot Records
A booking photo is part of the arrest or booking file when one exists and is releasable. In Routt County, the sheriff's records unit is the official local path because the county does not publish a release-photo feed. A person may have left the jail roster, but the underlying booking and release file may still be requested as a criminal-justice record under C.R.S. 24-72-304.
Do not treat a missing online photo as proof that no arrest, booking, or release occurred. The Routt County Detention Center page identifies the jail as the central holding location for law-enforcement agencies in the county, but it does not provide a public released-mugshot list. That publication choice means the official path is a records request, not a gallery search.
Where Routt Release Photos Appear
Routt County released inmate mugshots can surface in several different places, but each source has limits. A county booking photo is different from a CDOC offender photo. A CBI registry photo is only for a qualifying registrant. A social-media image or news photo may reflect one event and may not prove current custody or release.
| Channel | Has Photo? | How to Access |
|---|---|---|
| Routt sheriff records | Possible, if releasable | Request the booking photo from the records unit with name, date of birth if known, booking date, and case number. |
| Routt recent-release feed | No public feed found | Use jail phone, records request, VINE, and court records instead of a released-photo page. |
| CDOC offender search | Possible for state prisoners | Search CDOC when the person was sentenced or transferred to state prison. |
| CBI sex-offender registry | Possible for qualifying registrants | Search the Colorado registry only when the offense and registration rules apply. |
| Sheriff social or news posts | Event-specific | Confirm the date, context, and source because posts are not a complete release archive. |
Request a Routt Booking Photo
The best official request path is the Routt County Sheriff's Office Records page. It says criminal justice records are released under C.R.S. 24-72-304. Requests can be emailed, mailed, or brought to the office. Electronic requests require the form, ID or notarization, and payment of appropriate fees. The office may mail the result or send an Evidence.com link.
- Identify the person with full name and date of birth if known.
- Add the approximate booking date, release date, case number, or arresting agency if available.
- Ask whether a releasable booking photograph exists.
- Submit the form to rcsorecords@co.routt.co.us, by mail, or in person.
- Save the response method, including any Evidence.com link or mailed response.

Inspection is available within three business days of a request, subject to possible extensions for volume or redaction. The records page also says not all records are kept indefinitely. Request promptly if the booking photo or release record matters.
No Routt Mugshot App
No official Routt sheriff mobile app with a jail release or mugshot feed was found. The sheriff's website links to public information and social channels, but those are not a structured custody database. That is an important Routt-specific difference from counties where a sheriff app shows roster photos after the main website does not.
The sheriff's social channels can still matter for a specific public-safety event. A booking photo may appear in a press release, wanted notice, case update, or local news story. Treat those posts as event-specific material. They are not a complete record of everyone released from the Routt County Detention Center.
The sheriff source page is captured below as an example of official Routt sheriff information, not as a release-photo database.
Use official posts only with the date and context attached, then verify release status through records, court, VINE, or CDOC.
CDOC and CBI Photos
If the person moved from Routt County custody to a Colorado prison, the county booking photo may not be the most useful image source. The CDOC offender search can show state offender information and may show a correctional photo. That photo is tied to state custody. It is not the same as the Routt booking photo, and it should be read with CDOC's disclaimer about public database accuracy.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation sex-offender registry is narrower. CBI says the public site does not list all convicted sex offenders and excludes some misdemeanor-only and juvenile adjudication records. It may show a photo for a qualifying registrant, categories such as sexually violent predator or failed to register, and hourly updates when available. It is a registry source, not a general released-inmate mugshot search.
Routt Release List Limits
The lack of a public 24-hour or 72-hour release feed also affects photos. A county with a recent-release page may show a name, booking number, date, charge, and booking image. Routt's official detention navigation did not show that kind of rolling page. For a same-day release, the better process is the Routt released last 24 hours fallback: call the jail, use VINE while the person is in custody, check the court docket, and request records later.
For a photo request, include enough detail for the records unit to identify the booking. Ask for releasable booking and release information together if the photo is only one part of the question. A release reason such as bond, transfer, time served, or court order may change the next source to check.
Sealed Routt Mugshot Records
Sealing and expungement should be handled with care. A sealed court case may not appear in ordinary public court searches. That does not mean every custody record, photo, or third-party copy vanishes from every system. The official route is the court access procedure, the sealing order, or the agency that published the record.
Colorado research for this build did not confirm a state anti-pay-to-remove mugshot statute to cite. Do not rely on paid removal promises from unofficial publishers. For sheriff records, contact Routt Sheriff's Records. For a CBI registry issue, CBI lists Program Support Unit contact options, including 303-239-4222 and CDPS.CBI.SOR@STATE.CO.US. For court-data issues, use the court clerk or the court's sealing and correction process.
